Ultra Processed Food – Film compilation

image Michael J. Migliacci – Surrender To The Process

This is a compilation of films from Artists and Filmmakers from around the globe, who are interested in Ultra Processed Food. Questioning how we eat, consume and live. This compilation of films are inspired by Chris Van Tulleken’s Number 1 Sunday Times bestseller book “Ultra Processed People” (Cornerstone press).

This set of films explore how the food we eat is directly related to the capitalist cycle of labour and consumption. Sianne Ngai describes these emotions as indicators of social conditions of powerlessness and frustration, stemming from the injustices and inequalities of late capitalist life. These “unprestigious negative affects” are often associated with situations in which agency is blocked or suspended. By engaging with these themes, we can recognise the passive and ambivalent states that shape our emotional experiences and question the connections between aesthetics and politics.

Here Alexis Milonopoulos, speaks about his making of the film R A W (2025, Brasil)
